Craft day with friends.

I went over to Haddington to “The Mad Scrapper” for a 12 hour crafting day. I only stayed for 6 hours and probably talked more than I crafted. But it did give me the chance to actually cut into paper pads I’d been “saving” for months and months.

It’s been a while since I posted here. I tend not to “blog” any more. Actually I don’t do much in the way of social media., Facebook is probably the better format to find me and chat about crafting if you’re interested in what I’m up to.

More steampunk inspired crafting.

Some more steampunk inspired crafting, no real surprise really 🤪

More steam-“punked” toy guns. And a cyber man.

These started out as brightly coloured water pistols.

I still give them a light sanding because it’s hard to get paints etc to cling to shiny plastic. I should invest in some car paint primer or something really...

Tea party above the rabbit hole.... calico craft parts project.

A wee bit of an Alice theme today using a couple of the Artist Trading Block cubes. I used the large one with the arch shaped front and one of the small ones as a table.

I’ve decorated it with book pages from an old copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Inside I’ve added a bit of a fantasy woodland clearing with moss, flowers, toadstools and a white rabbit (which is really a hare but let’s not dwell on that.).

Other Craft parts used:

Altered lunchbox style tin.

In return for supplying me with some fabulous bits of preloved treasure, Ive altered this tin for my friend Sheilagh. It used to contain a game and it’s just slightly smaller than a typical lunchbox tin.

Altered cigar box.

As the title says...
I had this old wooden cigar box and decided to alter it to use as a box for a necklace I altered. They will be raffled for fund raising for my steampunk society and our next AGM.

Pimping a cheap fancy dress hat.

Top hats can be expensive. Too expensive to experiment with mixed media on.
So I got a cheap fancy dress one and gave it a steampunk makeover.

Pimp my nerf...

altering toy guns is quite popular among steampunks. I’ve given it a go a couple of times and recently I found this Tek 6 in a charity shop.

I took it home and gave it a makeover.
As a basic guide I give The nerfs a gentle sanding before giving them a coat of primer. (Try getting a small spray primer from a car paint shop). I then use “treasure gold” gilding waxes in various colours. Then glue on embellishments...

And here is a previous altered Nerf. This is a Nerf Maverick

Winter gift boxes.

I’m struggling to use blogger on my iPad so I’ve not been using my blog and promoting it to visitors in the way my design team commitments require.
There’s this whole issue with scrolling up and down a page to edit it. The issue being, I just can’t. So once I’ve added text, I can’t scroll through it to add photos in the righ place etc.
It’s made me lax.
Now I know, in the great scheme of things, nobody gives a hoot if I blog or not and it’s just one more blog for you to feel obliged to visit, but it’s the agreement we make when joining a design team. We are expected to promote the companies, retailers, manufacturers we design for when appropriate, on our personal blogs and other social media. Facebook I do. (Too much of).
I may have to dig my laptop out again and go back to blogging from there.

So I’ve got a lot of projects to catch up on and a lot of work to do to get visitors back in the numbers they used to visit.
I’ll start by simply adding images, over the next couple of posts, of my Yuletide and winter makes that I’ve done since November.
Starting with a couple of wintery gift boxes.
