Spring project for Calico Crafts

A friend of mine was having a clear out and she gave me a box of treasure to use in my crafting. In the box was a little alarm clock case with no back.
I’ve used it along with some Calico Craft Parts to make a little spring time assemblage.
I’ve used whole parts but I also often break off bits to fit my needs. The grass, daffodils and bird are all piece of a larger shape. I have to admit that this is a project that, in my mind, didn’t work but it’s not bad enough to say it went wrong. It’s just not what I had hoped. But it still gives a bit of inspiration and maybe you could do a better job 😉

Craft Parts used:
Alert hare and sitting hare
Daffodils
Grass
Bird

Altered lunchbox style tin.

In return for supplying me with some fabulous bits of preloved treasure, Ive altered this tin for my friend Sheilagh. It used to contain a game and it’s just slightly smaller than a typical lunchbox tin.

Altered cigar box.

As the title says...
I had this old wooden cigar box and decided to alter it to use as a box for a necklace I altered. They will be raffled for fund raising for my steampunk society and our next AGM.

Pimping a cheap fancy dress hat.

Top hats can be expensive. Too expensive to experiment with mixed media on.
So I got a cheap fancy dress one and gave it a steampunk makeover.

Pimp my nerf...

altering toy guns is quite popular among steampunks. I’ve given it a go a couple of times and recently I found this Tek 6 in a charity shop.

I took it home and gave it a makeover.
As a basic guide I give The nerfs a gentle sanding before giving them a coat of primer. (Try getting a small spray primer from a car paint shop). I then use “treasure gold” gilding waxes in various colours. Then glue on embellishments...

And here is a previous altered Nerf. This is a Nerf Maverick

Phileas McFly

I found a giant plastic fly in a charity shop. Its about 3.5 inches long.
I gave it a steampunk makeover.

More steam-“punked” toy guns. And a cyber man.

These started out as brightly coloured water pistols. I still give them a light sanding because it’s hard to get paints etc to clin...
