Christmas bauble makeover.

i was going through the decorations in readiness for the tree next week, and spotted some pretty scratched and chipped ones in the bottom. they were plastic so NEVER going to break and i hate throwing things out that are not broken. I decided to give them a makeover by covering them in tissue paper and painting them in a bit of a retro style. So with I used some DecoArt acrylic paint to make retro patterns. Then added a lovely thick coat of triple thick gloss glaze for a nice shine and for good measure added a little glamour dust glitter to make sure they have a bit of christmas sparkle.

zero supplies crafting.

Well.. as I cant really get into crafting with all my stash until my housing situation has been resolved, but i dont like the lack of "making", I have been making up for it with making home made mincemeat (again cus I used up and gave away all the last lot) and home made mincepies with home made rough puff pastry (or is it ruff puff?) , making a christmas ham etc etc and the other day i sat quietly with a tray on my lap and made a few paperback book trees... all i needed was a glue stick and some old paperbacks. I saw these made last christmas on a cooking show the "Hairy Bikers" were doing. but there are tutorials online too if you didnt see that show. I think the tutorials recommend having a craft knife but i just ripped the books apart a bit randomly and hoped for the best.

I also added some glamour dust glitter to the trees to make them look frosty but it didint show up with the camera... so to make up for that failing, i went a little over the top with adobe photoshop effects lol. kept me out of trouble for a wee while.

Artistic stamper day....

Sneak peek.
Its my turn at The Artistic Stamper blog today. Its not a very involved project as I am not able to craft right now due to suddenly being made unexpectedly homeless in 5 weeks time (my landlord has a nice way of wishing us a merry christmas after 25 years of living here), as well as coping with the death of a dear friend.... but its a little something that was easy to do with just a few supplies on a tray on my knee. (I have had to start packing things away to put into storage.)
Its at times like this I am reminded of how precious my family and real friends are... I wish all who celebrate it, as good a christmas as possible.

Cards with a flourish for Simon says.

I have been finishing up my christmas card making today (after visiting a friend and having a die cutting swap day. I got to cut out lots of her lovely flourishes so i brought them home and made some cards. as Simon says stamp has a theme of "Flourishes" on their Monday Challenge, I am entering them in to that....

Funkie Junkie time again....

Well I am already behind with my tags. i have 7 and 8 to do. today i got number 8 done. The tag that was offered as inspiration had little rusty bells on it. and a nice light blue snowy background and string. those are the things i used as my inspiration.
you can find the funkie junkie tag challenge HERE (just look on the sidebar on the right for the links tot he tags) and the super online store HERE.

Merriment card making...

I got some money for my birthday this week and it promptly got spent on a nice craft stash purchase.
I got some of Tim Holtz' stuff, including kraftcore paper and the Merriment collage paper stack. I have made a few more christmas cards to add to the slowly growing pile.

Funkie junkie inspiration 7...

I have made a card instead of a tag today. I used the funkie junkies 7th tag as my inspiration but the idea i had in my head morphed a fair bit and ended up very dissimilar to the original idea and inspiration.
So what elements did i use as my inspiration?
I like the over all vintage theme of the original tag with the sepia, cream and hints of duck egg blue. this is actually one of my all time favourite colour schemes. so i stuck with the same scheme.
I decided to do three tabs with words instead of three tags (I dont have a  small tag die or an alphabet die). i also included a snowflake and some brown glitter (coffee stickles in this instance).
I suspect a fair few of the items used are available from the Funkie Junkies beautiful online store which you can find by clicking HERE.

and while I am here, here are 3 more modern looking card i also made today (because i had to play with my new  christmas baubles die) ...

Have yourself a very "Timmy" Christmas.....

Some simple and not very original crafting today. But very soothing and rewarding just the same. its nice to craft without having to engage the brain too much....

Well more lovely friends have been sending diecuts and embossing folders etc to me recently. The lovely Lesley (who is on the Calico Crafts design team with me) sent me a wonderful selection which included a couple of the Tim Holtz reindeer (which I love but cant afford to get the die for this year).
So I made a card and a tag. the tag is very much in the style of Sir Tim. the card is more "White on white" as that is my theme for my cards I am sending out this year.

12 tags of "Funkie Junkie" Christmas.. (1 to 6)

Well i am very behind on starting this"Funkie Junkie" 12 tags of christmas challenge. I saw Astrid doing it and decided to go take a look for myself. tags are often a good way to do relaxing crafting; especially if someone else has already produced the item you have to be inspired by.  I mostly went along the route of doing a similar tag with variations, and occasionally i just used a part of the idea to get me going.  all the tags can be found on the Funkie Junkies blog and of course supplies can be obtained from her lovely Funkie Junkie shop (if you are on the correct continent)....

here are my 6 tags all together.....

and here they are individually...

week 1: The inspiration on thi one is obvious... I used the inspiration of light on dark and a similar layout. I just had different supplies. and instead of adding on snowflakes, my dark card tag is embossed with them.

week 2: inspiration of stars, the little reindeer and loose weave fabric (mines is a bit too loose lol)
week 3: Wise men, stars and gold.... the inspiration is pretty obvious on this one again.

week 4: slightly less obvious; i have used gingham and poinsettias and I  have it mostly as a vertical layout.

week 5: well I dont think i need to point out what part of it i am inspired to use lol. its sort of a copy. same but different.

week 6: I have used the inspiration of having the umber 25 feature predominately. and i have included a large gold bow and similar snowflakes. I didnt have a die for a tree but i had an embossing folder so i embossed my tree into my tag....
That's me caught up. now i must start watching for the new tags.....

Dreaming of a white christmas....

Well I got a new bigshot this month. my first ever die cutting and embossing machine. needless to say i am obsessed with making things that use die-cuts and embossing now :D

I don't have many dies but my lovely friend astrid visited and brought some of hers, so i had some of ready to use Die-cuts in a tray. I DO have a snowflake Die and i was gifted a snowflake embossing folder from another lovely friend Kathy. I have also decided to make my own christmas cards this year for the first time in many many years. SO I have gone snowflake and glitter mad.

The snowflakes are from a sizzix die set that came with rubber stamps. I set the stamps aside for now.
