Secret Garden hanging. (three muses magic carpet travel)

There are times in life when things feel hard, harsh and just almost too much. If I had a magic carpet at those times ( as suggested by this weeks three muses) and could just get away from it I would go to a secret garden.. with tall trees.. sun coming in through the leaves and a pond with gentle breezes disturbing the water. the only sounds would be the breeze rustling the leaves.. birds singing bees buzzing and the sound of the water lapping against the banks. In this hanging.. I am the bird let out of the cage...

Its Stampbord and alcohol inks mostly, and the stamps are from the Tim Holts artful flight set.

Alice in Wonderland "Drink Me" bottle.

An altered bottle made for a forum swap on my forum.... its one of those hour long projects that took all day as it just kept going wrong and refusing to play nice.... I got cross at it many times. Its certainly not my best work but its got character. And as "A" is for Alice.... I am entering it for this weeks Crazy Amigos Blog challenge... They have the letter "A" as a theme this week...

Box for the mechanical Go Between (something blue)

I thought the Go Between could do with a box and some instructions, so I altered another cigar box and added a label outside and inside the box... The labels were taken from another blog Altered Artifacts as she was kind enough to share with us, and I altered them in photoshop to suite my needs. I deliberately chose Blue as its colour as I know mixed media monday is something blue this week. I am entering it in to that. its my favourite blog challenge next to Alter it monthly.

Altered Cigar box.

Basically covered in a mixture of old book pages ( My Aunt Margaret's Mirror by Sir Walter Scott) Rusted paper Doilies and german / dresden scrap, some versamagic 'gingerbread' chalk ink and some gilt wax in indigo and copper. the mirror inside was added after i randomly covered the inside with the title page from the short story... it just seemed a shame not to have a mirror there. its also been spritzed with moon shadow mist (copper) . the stamping was done with the flourish stamp from Tim Holtz artful flight set.

Steampunk Mechanical Go Between.

"The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there."

Designed one evening by young Leo Colston after a very tiring afternoon of delivering messages between the young lovers, Ted and Marian. Sore feet can be a great push to inventiveness. The Mechanical go between takes the footwork out of secret message carrying. Simply whisper your words of love and the name of your love to the mechanical go between, wind it up and let it free. It will fly to the object of your affections and replay your saved message. It has the added bonus of letting your loved one hear your voice, thus making there long day without you bearable.

Paperbag Studio's Flower challenge

Please click on image to expand for detail.
Paperbag Studio have put up a new challenge this month.. "Flowers". I have used 3 paperbag Studio Stamps to make my captured Fairy (the lid has been left off for health and safety reasons. ). I have used the boy from the Imagined Sheet... and the flower and background script are from the Dreamer sheet. behind the jar is rusted paper and an old torn book page. The jar itself is an actual jar photo printed on to acetate and cut out. I mounted the jar and fairy on to the hanging with dimensional tape to give a 3D effect.

Steampunk Mechanical Heart gauge.

"He Loves me he loves me not... he loves me he ...." Are you tired of the uncertainty? You need the all new Patented Mechanical Heart gauge. Simply Pin to clothing close to your heart and read the dial alignment. Hey presto! no more wondering.

And more rust from me so i am making a second entry in to the three muses...

Three Muses "Rust" & Theme Thursday Animals

I made this little trinket box the other week. and the hand made paper flowers and other pieces of book pages had been rusted using the old tin tray and vinegar method. I love rusting lace and paper and this is such an easy (but a little smelly) way to do it. So as the paper was all rusted with real rust I am entering it for the three muses Challenge. Rust is one of my all time favourite themes. And Theme Thursday is animals and I think of all animal life and nature when i hear the expression the birds and the bees (thats the polite version )

Edited to add: The stamps are from Tim Holtz's "artful flight" Set.

Washed Ashore... Altered bottle

Wonder if there was a Djinn in there? Actually this was an empty balsamic vinegar bottle with a spout I used for making salad dressings in. I Borrowed it to practice altering bottles on. And as this has been borrowed from the kitchen cupboard, I am entering it for mixed media monday this week.

Altered perfume bottle - Eau de Paris

SOLD
I have had a sudden interest in altering bottles. here is a small blue dressing table perfume bottle my mum gave me many years ago. It has a bird moulded in to the glass stopper. Perfume bottles for some reason always make me think of Paris... So I have added a little Eiffel tower charm and a
fleur-de-lis to make my bottle an Eau de Paris bottle...

So here it is... My 20cm x 20cm Happy Daze Canvas :)
And as it has torn paper on it.. I am joining in with Theme Thursday....
