Our Theme at alter it monthly this month is home sweet home. and we have a wonderful sponsor, The Artistic Stamper, offering a voucher to spent to one lucky participant (chosen at random by number generator) anyone taking part will be entered in to the draw. I did a couple of pieces for the design team samples. One is a very light and simple 20cm x 20cm Canvas. the other is a little altered house using house cut out shapes and stamps from crafty individuals.
Its Our wedding anniversary on the 4th of July so i thought i should make something for mike. He loves my stuff but its always very girlie. So I have added a slight masculine touch to this and the quote is from the song "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah". Mike really is like the blue bird on my shoulder. no matter how bad things get hes right there to support me and whisper words of encouragement in my ear. The little bird has a coat of copper gilt polish on it which looks great in real life but its looking like plain old brown patches in the photo. The main image is a paper bag studio stamp from the set imagined. The frame and leaves were coloured using Versamagic dew drops. I would also like to enter it in to mixed media monday. "something new". This piece is a gift to celebrate my wedding anniversary with Mike and that reminds me of the rhyme something old something new something borrowed something blue... the paper is old, the frame and the moulds for the butterfly and bird are NEW as is the black flourish stamp, The Quote is borrowed from the song an the bird is blue .
I was asked if I could do a pocketwatch for someone who, although she loves to look at my vintage distressed items, she knows she would never wear any of it. She is a butterflies angels fairies and twinkle kind of gal... SO she asked if I could do her a watch with that in mind. Never one to turn down a challenge I went all girly bling on this one. the case was a brand new unused case so that helped.
Sweet/ candy Jar altered to make a "captured nest"
Canvas 20cm x 20 cm
How quickly the months seem to roll in now that I am involved in Alter it monthly. We are on month 3 and its Birds of a Feather. Here are the samples I made.
The sweet Jar was one left from 2 Christmases ago. I covered the inside with alcohol inks in nice green woodland shades, leaving the flat circular front section clear. put some rubon foliage on the outside and a rub on fence. and popped in my nest (some twigs feathers and painted polystyrene eggs). this was made in under an hour so I am entering it for one powerful hour B is for..... in my case "birds nest in a jar" and Also Lots To DO who have a theme of Birds and wings.
The canvas is 20cm x 20 cm. i used texture paste to build up the texture around the edges and also to make the bird. I used acrylic paint for some details but the piece is mostly coloured with alcohol inks such as cranberry and raisin and glimmer mists in colours like oriental poppy and June Berry. The glimmer mists were sprayed over a mask (Blossom glimmer screens) I lose track of everything i spray on. the silhouette flowers are felt and are made By Prima.
