Well I no sooner put the last pocket watch on my Face book page and it sold... so that's not going to be for the swap then lol. I got straight to trying out another idea. this is a steam punk one. Also a pendant. I've taken a real lean towards making things you can wear right now. I am entering this for the three muses theme this week.. TIME
For a forum swap. Gillian gave all the participants these little metal houses to alter or decorate for a swap on Zuzus forum. Thanks Gillian.. i love these little things... they had white paint on them and so I scraped most of it off to reveal the rust underneath.. I then cut out some embroidered lace material and stuck it on. You cant really see it on the picture as it is all rusty too. I added beads and metal embellishments and dangled some metal and glass leaf things from it.
Alter it Monthly has a metal theme this month so I have been inspired to work with metal a lot in the last few weeks.. My Ebay purchase of six very small apostle spoons arrived earlier in the week so I decided to have a go at altering one and making it a pendant... To see how to purchase this along with any of my other altered items for sale, please visit my Facebook page. Thank you. Z x
I am going to be travelling to meet up with some friends in a week. and I am making each of them a little gift. Hence all the tags. Its actually a convention for the show Supernatural. I wont bore you lol.. but I am such a fan. This one is for a very delicate feminine young lady so I think the tag reflects my impression of her.
Please click on images to enlarge for detail. I have a friend who loves pink and we were recently talking about pink and brown. I don't really DO pink unless its looking a bit vintage or grunge.. so I made this tag to give her when we meet up next week. Its suitably distressed and aged for me to feel its not too PINK ... Hope you like it Gemmy x
Please click on images to enlarge for detail. Made from a small shadow-box frame, some rusty wings, reclaimed jewellery and copper chain.
I have loved the work of Frida Khalo long before I had ever heard of rubber stamping, so although Frida stamps have become a bit of a Stampers cliché, I decided I still wanted to make a shrine with her inside. and this is it. Sadly all the little bumps and grooves haven't shown up too well in the photo...
Alter it Monthly and metal... Yes MORE metal objects from me... I am struggling to get a decent photo of this as its all reflective or see-through surfaces. anyway.. here it is.. I am not sure its done.. I may have to fix or change stuff. I think I will call it a work in progress... I have to ask myself why I spent hours taking it to bits, gutting it and removing all the parts, just so I could stick them back in surrounded by glossy-accents and alcohol ink LOL
Over on Alter it monthly, Metal is the theme. I had fun with this as its such an open theme. I have three objects to share. Firstly a nicho, designed to look steampunk... Opening the doors to a glimpse of some strange machinery... Secondly I have an assemblage made from a reclaimed brass drawer pull, some vintage and new clock and watch parts and a metal dragonfly, adorned with some dangley beads...Lastly I have an altered tobacco tin... very quick and simple to do. I have done the tin in a ladies writing bureau theme.
